Local prosecutor takes unique approach in fight against heroin

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (Brad Underwood) -- Butler County prosecutor Mike Gmoser is taking a unique approach in the fight against heroin, he's asking addicts to call him.
Gmoser wants 50 heroin-addicted or recovering addict volunteers to meet with him to help stop the growth of addiction.

"I want to hear for myself the hows and whys of the beginning of their addiction. We will never be able to solve the problem if we never find the root of the problem," said Gmoser.

Gmoser says the meetings will be confidential, he's not out to bust dealers.  More importantly Gmoser says he wants to get advice from someone who's suffering on how to council future addicts.

"If we can find a solution, tackle the problem at the root, maybe we will be able to help bring down the number of crimes and help our citizens feel safer in their own communities," said Gmoser.

Anyone interested in participating in the program as a addict or recovering addict may call 1-888-662-3673 for more information.
