Driver killed in West Chester crash

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- One person was killed in a crash in West Chester in Thursday.

The two vehicles collided on SR 747 at Port Union Road at 8:30 a.m. The coroner was called to the crash scene.

A West Chester spokesperson says a black Chevy Avalanche being driven by Terrence Strader was first involved in a hit and run at SR 747 and Mackenzie.  Strader sped off after rear-ending a blue Honda Civic driven by Christy Martin of Hamilton.  Martin was treated and released at the scene.

The truck then went on to hit a silver Toyota Prius turning north on to SR 747 from Port Union.  The driver of that car, 62-year-old Troy Stapelton, was killed.  Stapelton died at the scene of the accident.

Strader was taken to the West Chester Hospital.
Officials say neither driver was wearing a seat belt.  No one else was hurt.  The accident is still under investigation and charges are pending.
