City council to work on permanent solutions to prostitution

CINCINNATI (Perry Schiable) -- Cincinnati City Council members will work on permanent solutions to the problem of prostitution Monday.

Much of the prostitution is centered on McMicken. Temporary cement barriers have been placed on the street at Straight, Vine and Race streets. The goal is to prevent johns from coming down the the street to pick up prostitutes.

Neighbors and business owners are tired of the prostitution and the problems that come with it: trash, needles and violence.

The cement barriers are only a temporary fix. They're expected to be in place for three months. Council members will talk about permanent solutions at its 10 a.m. meeting Monday.
