Police softball game promotes peace in city

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Cincinnati's finest take a break to celebrate a safer city.

The Cincinnati Police Department partners with "Increase The Peace" for its annual "Pitching for Peace" event at Hirsch Recreation Center.  The community softball game brings people from all over Avondale together on the diamond.  The belief is that community involvement creates a safer Cincinnati.

Donald Jordan of the Cincinnati Police Department said, "In order for Cincinnati to be a safe place as we all want it to be, it's gonna take more than just the police. It's gonna take community stakeholders, community residents, and everyone else who's concerned to work collaboratively in this effort."

During the "third inning stretch" there were presentations emphasizing safety and the ongoing effort to build relationships that make city neighborhoods better places to live, work and play.
