Roneys to close for good Tuesday night

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Adam Clements) -- Roney's restaurant in Mt. Carmel will close its doors for good Tuesday night.

As news spread of its closing, people packed the former Roy Rogers restaurant on State Route 32 Monday. The drive-thru line wrapped around the building and there was a line out the door. On any day, license plates from several states dot the parking lot.

This is a family-owned business. However, the family couldn't work out a new agreement for the lease and they're forced to close.

Adam Clements went to Roney's to talk to people about how Roney's is a family tradition, and found his own family. "What keeps me coming back up here is the roast beef sandwich which is what I think everybody comes here for," says Jock Clements. "This place has been like an institution since I was a kid. I used to ride my bicycle up here, I grew up right here in Mt. Carmel and me and my buddies used to ride our bikes up here and get a beef, fry and a Coke for less than a buck and a half, if I recall. It's been a favorite spot of ours." Adam says he also brings his son there.

Roney's will close its doors for good Tuesday at 10 p.m.
