Saturday night crash leaves one person in the hospital

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Cincinnati police are investigating a crash that left one person in the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Around 9pm Saturday night, a car and a motorcycle collided on South Interstate 71 at the 2.2 mile post.

33-year-old Marc Vergona was heading South on Interstate 71, when he struck the back of a Jeep Liberty. Vergona then lost control of his motorcycle, struck the median barrier wall, and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Vergona was transported to UC Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He is listed in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Jeep Liberty, 26-year-old Stephanie Vanarsdale, was not injured.

Excessive speed and impairment are believed to have played a role in the crash.

The highway was down to one lane for several hours while crews cleaned up.
