Five thousand participate in Hunger Walk and 5K

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Thousands of people laced up their shoes and hit the pavement Monday as part of the Freestore Foodbank's Hunger Walk and 5K.

5,310 participated in the eleventh annual event. Runners and walkers lined up for the start on East Pete Rose Way.

Jacob Hanser of Falmouth was the first man to cross the finish line. Pauline O'Brien of Montgomery was the first woman.

Bob Herzog emceed the event. It's a big fundraiser for the Freeestore Foodbank, assisting more than 275 non-profit agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, elder and childcare facilities, shelters and community centers in 20 local counties.
