New tornado warning sirens coming for Hamilton

HAMILTON, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- A warning system that alerts us to bad weather can save lives.

Just think back to the tornado that touched down in Cedarville.  One local community is getting a new tornado warning system which will reduce its number of sirens.  Hamilton will have fewer sirens but it will be better for the area.

The old tornado siren on top of the city building in Hamilton has been there since the 1950's.  The same goes for seven other sirens in the area.  All of the old sirens will be replaced with three new, more powerful tornado sirens as the city of Hamilton prepares to do more with less.

The sirens will be located at Wasserman Road, Washington Boulevard, and Ford Boulevard in addition to one new siren already standing near Hamilton High School.  That siren will be the only one in service while the updates are made.
The city expects them to be delivered in the next couple of weeks and they could be installed some time this summer.
