Puppy found in dumpster outside school

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC) -- Kind people help a puppy get back on his feet after he was thrown away like a piece of trash.

Oscar is on the mend at an animal hospital in Columbus. Instead of being able to play like other puppies, he must rest in a cage because both of his front paws are broken.

Kids found the boxer mix in a dumpster behind an elementary school. They took him to a school resource officer after hearing Oscar crying.

He can't stand, but hopes are high for a complete recovery.

"Lucky for him he doesn't have a broken leg, it's just his paws that are broken, so he is splinted now and hopefully because he is such a young dog, he should be able to recover pretty quickly," says Dr. Michelle Gonzalez.

Police hope someone will come forward with information about who threw Oscar away. The school resource officer who helped rescue him now plans to foster Oscar.
