California Chrome may not run in Belmont Stakes

BALTIMORE (WKRC) -- Controversy could be creeping up on the team that owns the latest horse to make a Triple Crown bid.

Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome raced out to an early lead in the Preakness Stakes yesterday and managed to hold on for the win. Now the colt has two of the three wins needed to win the Triple Crown.

No horse has won the Triple Crown since 1978.

Now there is word from the horse's trainer that they may not run in the Belmont Stakes if he's not allowed to wear nasal strips.

California Chrome has worn them for both of his wins.

However, Belmont Stakes organizers say they don't allow the devices meant to help the horses breathe.
