Cincinnati removed from GOP convention short list
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- WASHINGTON (WKRC) -- The Republican National Committee's Site Selection Committee met Thursday over a conference call to make cuts to the list of potential cities who could host the 2016 Republican National Convention.
The committee selected Cleveland, Dallas, Denver and Kansas City to receive site visits. Prior to the vote, both Cincinnati and Las Vegas withdrew their bid.
"Prior to the committee's vote, Cincinnati and Las Vegas notified the RNC that they would no longer pursue their bid to host the 2016 convention. While the committee understands their decision, both cities made a compelling case for 2016 and would make excellent hosts should they pursue efforts to host a future RNC convention," says the committee's chairwoman, Enid Mickelsen.
The committee will now set up official visits to the four cities by the party's full Site Selection delegation.
