Police catch suspects in burglaries after high-speed chase

DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. (WKRC) -- Police believe two men arrested after a chase in Indiana may be behind 25 to 30 home burglaries.

According to police, the suspects tried to run over a state trooper who then fired shots to protect himself.

20-year-old Dakota Fraley of Holton and 24-year-old Chad Sumler of Versailles are being held at the Dearborn County Jail on a preliminary charge of burglary, but more charges are expected to be filed.

Police on a stakeout spotted the pair in a truck.

Officers suspected them of having just robbed a home in Dearborn County and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The truck took off, leading police on a high speed chase through northern Dearborn County and into southern Franklin County.

The pair jumped out of the truck on Sturwold Road and fled on foot.

A perimeter was established, and the suspects were caught a short time later.

Investigators worked to issue at least two search warrants.

They recovered several items of the stolen property. Police suspect the two were involved in 25 to 30 home burglaries in three counties.

Other individuals could be charged as well.
