PNC/Players for the Planet E-waste Recycling Drives

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- The Reds are joining forces with some local businesses to help save the environment.
The PNC/Players for the Planet Recycling Drive began at 7 a.m. Thursday at the Colerain Kroger. Within just a few minutes, there was a line of cars.

Volunteers ask the drivers what they're dropping off, then remove it for them. People are dropping of tvs, personal computers, cell phones and appliances. Volunteers say it if plugs in, they'll take it. The electronics are then recycled the proper way.

There is a ten dollar suggested donation because it does cost to recycle the items. The first 20 cars at each event will receive a voucher for two free Reds tickets. Reds players will be at the events.

Thursday's event at the Colerain Kroger goes until 4 p.m. There are three more drives: Friday at the Kroger/PNC Bank at West Chester Plaza from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday at the Kroger/PNC Bank at Hyde Park Plaza from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday at the Kroger Marketplace at Newport Pavilion from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
This is the fifth year for the e-waste recycling drive. Last year's drive collected more than 140,000 pounds of electronic waste.
