Man runs across Ky. to raise money, awareness for Alzheimers

FORT THOMAS, Ky. (WKRC) -- Family, friends and supporters lined up to cheer a man across the finish line.

Steve Schwalbach of Fort Thomas concluded a 200 mile run across the state of Kentucky Saturday evening, all in honor of his mother, Jackie, who has Alzheimer's disease.

He also ran to raise awareness and money in support of the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati.

It took Schwalbach a week to run along U.S. 27 from Pine Knot North through Lexington.

He finished his trek on the track at Highlands High School.

To gear up for his big trip, Schwalbach averaged nearly a full marathon each day for the week leading up to the start of his trip.
