Sen. Mitch McConnell honors Jason Ellis on Senate floor

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKRC) -- Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell takes the Senate floor to talk about fallen police officer Jason Ellis and the impact his loss has had on the Bardstown Police Department.
"Chief Rick McCubbin says this about his tragic slaying. It's basically a large family here and a lot these officers have worked together many years, so as you can imagine they're very close. They know each other well, they know each others families, each others' children so it's a devastating hit." McConnell's speech was part of Police Memorial Week activities in the Capitol.

Jason Ellis was working as a police officer in Bardstown, Kentucky when he was shot and killed during an ambush. The Clermont County native's name was added to the National Fallen Heroes Monument in Washington, D.C.
