Man in Hamersville officer-involved shooting identified

HAMERSVILLE, Ohio (Rich Jaffe) -- Hamersville police shoot a driver moments before he plowed into a city building Tuesday. Police identified him as Albert Robert Clayburn.

Officers responded to a call of a suspicious person Tuesday evening near the intersection of State Route 125 and 774. Clayburn was tearing down a garage. After an altercation with officers, he jumped into his truck. An officer tried to stop him and was dragged 30 to 40 feet down the street. Another officer opened fire.  Clayburn died from his injuries. Two officers suffered minor injuries.

Clayburn's truck plowed into the city building that houses Mayor's Court, among other things. Mayor's Court has wrapped up just 15 minutes earlier. It was expected to still be going on but many of the people on the docket didn't show up.

Clayburn has an extensive criminal history. Several organizations are investigating. The state Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Brown County Sheriff's Office, the Brown County Prosecutor's Office and Ohio State Patrol are all looking into the deadly incident.
