3-year-old child struck by car

WINTON TERRACE, Ohio (WKRC) -- A 3-year-old child was struck by a minivan Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2:30p.m. on Dutch Colony in Winton Terrace.  3-year-old Jaimere Ruffin was hit.  He is in critical condition at Children's Hospital.

Dorrina Gamble ran outside her home after hearing screams and saw someone holding an unconscious little boy.  Gamble is a medical assistant.  She and another woman tried to help Jaimere by performing CPR.

"He took another breath in like he was trying to talk but he couldn't get anything out.  He tightened up when he heard his Mama's voice when she bent down over him he started responding like grabbing my hand and moving his body," said Gamble.

Police tell Local 12 the child was running across the street to say goodbye to his mom who was leaving for work when the accident happened.  A woman driving a black minivan hit Jaimere.

Police say speed was not a factor.
