Man stabbed in New Richmond over a girl

NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (WKRC) -- One man was stabbed early Monday morning in New Richmond and a suspect is under arrest. It appears the violence was over a woman.

New Richmond Police were called to the Riverview Apartments on Bethel New Richmond Road at 2:17 a.m. They found 19-year-old Preston Graybill stabbed in the side in his apartment. He was rushed to U.C. Medical Center. No word on his condition.

Graybill told police he was stabbed by Clayton Welch. Police found Welch at his home on South Union Street in Bethel. Police say he told them he threw the knife he used to stab Graybill into the woods behind the apartment building. Using a police dog, they found the knife.

Both men told police the stabbing was the result of taunting and threatening text messages regarding a woman they both liked. Welch is charged with felonious assault.
