Fundraiser for man with aphasia a success

MASON, Ohio (WKRC) -- A fundraiser Saturday to help a local man with aphasia from being stabbed in the head was a huge success.

Danny O'Keefe's mother says Saturday's golf scramble and silent auction helped the family raise nearly $20,000.

She says that is enough money to continue getting Danny treatment at the University of Michigan's aphasia program.

Danny's condition limits his ability to speak, read and write.

His recommended therapy costs almost $30,000 a month.

In May 2011, Danny was stabbed in the head 19 times as he tried to protect his sister, Kelly, from an attack by her ex-boyfriend.
