Police and neighbors in the West End hold Peace Walk

WEST END, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- A spike in shootings prompts a peaceful reaction in the West End Wednesday evening. There have been several shootings there in the past month. The most recent on Tuesday night was deadly.

Community leaders say they can't allow negative things to happen without responding with a positive reaction.

They partnered with police to take back their neighborhood from criminals. Police officers joined Citizens on Patrol for a peace walk. Church leaders and families joined them.
There have been three shootings in the West End in the past few weeks; on Whiteman, at Findlay and Linn and again on Linn.

Community leaders and police want to send a message to the people who live there. The good people in the neighborhood outnumber the bad. They're willing to do the work to take back the neighborhood.

They recognize a peace walk won't fix everything, but this is an ongoing process. They hope to organize a community picnic soon.
