Woman killed during police chase

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A woman was killed when an overnight police pursuit resulted in a crash.

An Arlington Heights police officer initiated a pursuit about 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning on Reading Road near Galbraith Road. The vehicle being pursued was driven by 26-year-old David Hill. Hill went through a red light and hit a Ford Focus traveling on Seymour Avenue in Roselawn.

That Ford Focus reportedly flipped. The driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Janice Jewett, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Hill was taken to an area hospital and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The Arlington Heights officer was not hurt. Hill is in serious condition as of Sunday.

Speed does appear to have played a role in the crash.

The intersection of Reading Road and Seymour Avenue was closed most of the morning.

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
