UC and TQL work with West Clermont to help students

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Adam Clements) -- Professors at the University of Cincinnati and TQL are working together to lend a hand to teachers in the West Clermont school district.

They're working together to help students apply math to the real world and encourage them to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

TQL Logistics training specialist Karis Barbee says their brokers use math constantly. They have to know how many hours a truck driver will drive and how they should break up their route. They need to calculate the weight of equipment and the weight of the product.

This is all part of the Cincinnati Engineering Enhanced Math and Science program, or CEEMS. It was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
