Another carriage hit by car on Taylor Southgate Bridge

NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) -- Another horse-drawn carriage was hit by a car on the Taylor Southgate Bridge Friday evening.

The carriage was traveling south into Kentucky when one car hit another car and ran into the carriage.  The left, rear wheel was broken in the accident.

The driver of the carriage was ejected and suffered a laceration to the head.  She was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and expected to be okay.

After the accident the horse took off towards Newport on the Levee.  It was determined to be okay.

The carriage belonged to Elegant Carriage of Cincinnati, the same company that owned the other carriage that was hit on the Taylor Southgate Bridge Thursday.

Newport Police Chief Tom Collins said, "Couldn't believe what I heard, another carriage accident in the same spot.  A one in a billion chance."

Chief Collins attributed quick control of the scene to the fact that they had just done the same thing one day before and knew how to handle it.  No citations have been issued.
