The Cincinnati streetcar progresses

CINCINNATI (Joe Webb) -- Work on the streetcar rounds a corner and that might mean some headaches for you.
A busy section of a downtown street will close while crews install a section of curved tracks.  If you drive Central Parkway, listen up!

Thursday at 6p.m. eastbound of the parkway between Vine and Walnut closed for streetcar work and it will be closed all weekend.
Drivers can detour south onto Race or north on Vine to 12th to avoid the closed section.  Detour signs will be posted.  It's closed so crews can lay down a curved section at Walnut and Central Parkway taking the streetcar line into the Central Business district.
John Deatrick, Project Executive, said, "It's the furthest point south that we've got.  We have over 7,000 feet of track in.  You could say, 'What's so important about this?'  It's really important because it provides that link to the CBD."

Crew will work around the clock and hope to get the roads reopened by 7 o'clock Monday morning.
