Community celebrates 90 day cleanup blitz
EAST PRICE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) -- People in Price Hill celebrated the positive results of a 90-day cleanup blitz.
The sounds of a mariachi band began the festive atmosphere and greeted the community. The celebration reflected many of the accomplishments that the enhancement project had achieved and concluded the 17th Neighborhood Enhancement Program. According to the press released, District 3 Police reported a 25 percent decrease in overall crime and a 33 percent decrease in violent crime.
Keep Cincinnati Beautiful coordinated three large community cleanups. Volunteers collected trash, cleaned up two illegal dump sites, painted and demonstrated the power of partnership. Two bus stops that were problem spots were removed. The Neighborhood Enhancement Project targeted the area to get rid of blight.
Mayor John Cranley said in the press release, "Our Neighborhood Enhancement Program is an effective tool that's produced fantastic results for the communities where it's been deployed. The latest results in East Price Hill are especially impressive. More than 400 volunteers helped clean up the neighborhood, and our city departments and community partners also pitched in with various projects. NEP provides the type of help that many residents seek in improving their communities."
Organizers say the clean up was a team effort. The next blitz is set to happen later in the year in Walnut Hills.
