Monday marks one year since wildfire killed 19 firefighters

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (WKRC) -- Monday marks one year since 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots died while protecting their Arizona town.

The town paused today to remember the sacrifice with a flag-raising ceremony and prayer.

Nineteen members of the highly skilled crew died when a raging wildfire overran them on a mountainside northwest of Phoenix.

It was deadliest day for U.S. fire crews since 9/11.
