12th HUC president inaugurated

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- One of the most significant religious institutions in the world introduced it's new leader Sunday.

Hebrew Union College inaugurated Rabbi Aaron Panken as its 12th president at the Plum Street Temple downtown.  The school was the first Rabbinical school in North America.  It has been training Rabbis for reform Judaism since the 1800's.
Since its founding in Cincinnati it has added campuses in New York, Los Angeles, and Jerusalem.  But because Cincinnati was the first, the presidential inauguration was there.

Rabbi Aaron Panken said, "When I look at our students who are graduating and going out to 31 different congregations and organizations around the country, I'm just delight to see where they're gonna go and watch what they're gonna do and see the excitement and innovation that they're going to bring."

Rabbi Planken previously served as Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Dean of the New York campus.
