9 out of 10 third graders meet new reading targets

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Nearly nine out of 10 Ohio third graders met new reading targets and moved onto the fourth grade after follow-up testing.
Students can be held back if they don't meet the literacy goals under a new state policy.  The department of education said more than 110,000 third graders, or 88 percent of the total, earned the necessary score during testing last month.
The figures were up from the 63 percent who passed in October.
