Job fair for veterans held in Sharonville

SHARONVILLE, Ohio (WKRC) -- Job fairs around the country are linking up veterans with manufacturing jobs. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce brought one of them to Sharonville on Thursday.

The Hiring Our Heroes event helps veterans and military spouses find jobs. More than 35 employers came to look for a few good men and women.

"I think a lot of times veterans have a hard time communicating those transferable skills, and we may be missing out on great employees. It's great for us to take the initiative and find out what those skills are and find a match for them in our companies," Said Tara Moore of Verizon.

Hiring Our Heroes started in 2011. There have been more than 700 of these job fairs around the country.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said 23-thousand veterans and military spouses have landed jobs.
