Teens learn value of work by starting own business

CINCINNATI (Deb Dixon) -- Some local young people who want to work and stay out of trouble this summer are up and running with their own business.

A week ago, we showed you their lawn care business called Village Lawn Care. Some of you helped out with donated equipment, and others became customers.

Monday, the teens mowed their first lawn.
The t-shirts make it official: Village Lawn Care.

Because of where they live, some of these teens have never used a lawn mower.

Kimont is getting more than mowing lessons out of this summer job. He gets to feel good about his work. He says he can see the difference.

Pride, staying out of  trouble and money are all motivators

The teen workers will learn another life lesson this summer about money. Soon they will all have a savings account. They are expected to put some of their hard earned money away.

The business needs more mowers and hedgers, so the teens can work on more yards, and so more boys and girls can be part of the summer program.

If you can help make that happen or want to be a customer, get in touch with  Pastor Mingo at 513-602-4619.
