Woman found dead in car in Whitewater Township
WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Angenette Levy) -- Friends of a Colerain Township mother find her dead in the woods in a wrecked car, leaving her family wanting to know what happened and why.
Jena Higgins' family is devastated. Her mother, Julie Ramage, was recovering from surgery at a nursing home and left to search for her daughter after she hadn't heard from her in awhile.
"We've been looking for her since noon on Sunday," says Ramage.
Ramage's worst fears were realized; Jena, 29, was found dead in a wrecked car along Cilley Road in Whitewater Township.
Higgins was a mother to four boys; the oldest one is 10 years old.
Ramage says Jena went out Saturday night after she got off work and somehow ended up getting a ride with the driver of the crushed Pontiac.
She says the car crashed into the woods and the driver left her daughter.
"He ran to the ambulance, police whatever to get help for himself and said two men beat him up and took his car," says Ramage.
Ramage says she and Jena's friends went searching for Jena, and they reported her missing this morning.
Two friends found the car.
"They had some information from some people, a third party, that the vehicle had been wrecked and they came down here and they found it in the tree line," says Lt. Tom Butler.
Jena Higgins' family and friends say they didn't know the man driving the car. They believe he was giving her a ride to a party.
They held a vigil near the crash scene. They wanted to see the car.
"I want everybody to pray for her. The boys. They're going to need it. Their mommy's gone," says Ramage.
Ramage is hoping the driver will be held accountable.
"I want him to pay," she says.
