Father of fallen Marine watches conflict in Iraq

FAIRFIELD, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- After years of fighting in Iraq, the last US troops left that country in December 2011.
Marine Lance Corporal Taylor Prazynski of Fairfield was killed in Iraq in May of 2005.  He died from an explosion while conducting combat operations against enemy forces.  And even though insurgents are taking a foothold in that country once again, his father does not believe his son or others have fought and died in vain.

Three years after US troops pulled out of Iraq, militant fighters are on the move once again.  The images are disturbing to John Prazynski.

"It just breaks my heart to know that our military, fine men and women in uniform went over there.  They gave their blood, sweat and tears as volunteers to fight for freedom.  To give us the freedom to forget why we were there in the first place," said John, Taylor's father.

John believes that many in this country have forgotten about 9/11.

"The answer to 9/11, something had to be done.  And to take the battle to the terrorists was the right thing to do.  But to leave without finishing, I think was wrong."

As insurgents continue to advance in Iraq John said he doesn't know what the US should do next.  He knows something must be done.

"I don't think we can leave them high and dry," said John.  "Again I don't know, I think our military leaders would have the best answers to that question.  But we cannot leave them high and dry, we have to do something to help them."

John said his heart is broken for the people of Iraq.  It has been nine years since John lost his son and as Iraq unravels again he said the fight was not in vain.
