Fundraiser held for puppy with birth defect

HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- A fundraiser was held Saturday for a German Shepherd pup with a birth defect.

6-month-old Laila was born with a birth defect that makes getting around tough. Her mother was mistreated, and all of her brothers and sisters died, but MedVet is trying to help the puppy.

They are going to fix her right leg with screws and plates. Her left leg can't be fixed, so they will shorten it and make it like a peg so she can balance, but that surgery is about $6,000.

Laila hung out at the Bass Pro Shop in Forest Park for a fundraiser Saturday.

Once she's healed, she will be up for adoption.
