Aggravated robbery attempt in Symmes Township

SYMMES TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A would-be thief leaves a Symmes Township convenience store without taking anything.

Late Wednesday night, the man began to make a small purchase at the Ameristop on Fields Ertel Road. He then took out a gun and demanded the clerk give him cash.

The clerk had trouble opening the cash drawer. That's when the man ran off without taking anything. No one was hurt.

Investigators brought out a police dog but the man got away. Police say he's a black man, 20 - 30 years old. He's six feet tall, about 200 pounds and he has a slight beard. He was wearing a black ball cap turned backwards, a blue hoodie, gray jeans and black gym shoes.

If you can help investigators track him down, call the Sheriff's Patrol at 825-1500.
