Detox center in Hamilton opens to combat heroin abuse

HAMILTON, Ohio (Adam Clements) -- A new detox center will officially be open for business Wednesday in Hamilton. The goal is to combat the growing problem of heroin abuse in the city.

Heroin has become a widespread and common problem in the tri-state area, and perhaps no other part of town is more entrenched in the epidemic than the city of Hamilton.

It's something the doctors at the brand new Hamilton Center recognized and decided to do something about it..

The new practice officially opens for business Wednesday.

Doctors at the center will use a combination of medicinal therapy and psycho analysis. They tell us it's far different from the practices of a methadone clinic.

Wednesday's ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with Hamilton Mayor Pat Moeller expected to attend.
