Cincinnati Police officer pleads guilty to having nude pictures of teen girl
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A Cincinnati police officer, accused of creating a fake police substation, pleaded guilty Monday to having pictures of a 17-year-old girl.
Darrell Beavers, 44, set up a phony police substation in an East Price Hill apartment and using his position as a police officer to use the apartment rent-free. Local 12 News was first to report the allegations about the fake substation.
Beavers also received nude photos of a 17-year-old Police Explorer. The girl's father became concerned about the contact his daughter was having with Beavers and an investigation followed. Beavers destroyed his cell phone when he discovered he was being investigated.
Beavers was a neighborhood officer in Lower Price Hill. He's been suspended without pay pending the outcome of this case.
Beavers faces up to 30 months in prison and $7,500 in fines when he's sentenced within 30 to 45 days on the charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material and attempted tampering with evidence charges. Four other charges were dropped. He could have faced up to eight years in prison if he'd been convicted on all of them.
