Former City Finance Director sentenced to 10 years

COVINGTON, Ky. (Joe Webb) -- Bob Due embezzled nearly 800,000 dollars from taxpayers and now he's sentenced to a decade  in prison for his crimes.

The man accused of stealing 793,000 dollars from the city of Covington will likely be out on parole in less than 18 months.  Thursday, Kenton Circuit Judge Gregory Bartlett sentenced Bob Due to ten years in prison.  The former Finance Director admitted to stealing the money over a 12 year period.
The Commonwealth Attorney wanted a 15 year sentenced, but Bartlett handed down a ten year sentence.  Due's attorney was satisfied but the prosecutor says anything less than the maximum of 15 years sends the wrong message.
Due will be on probation until he pays restitution.  Bob Due has been in the Kenton County Detention Center since late September after attempting suicide twice while out on bond.
