Tri-state missing man found dead in SUV

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A Tri-State man who disappeared after leaving for work Monday has been found dead in his SUV off of State Route 32 in Batavia Township.

Ralph "Rob" Bernhardt was last seen headed to his job in Adams County. He made a stop at the UDF at State Route 32 and Bauer Road but never arrived. He had recently suffered a stroke.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Bernhardt was driving his Toyota Highlander on State Route-32 when he traveled off the right side of the highway east of the James Sauls Drive exit.  The car went through the right-of-way fence, over James Sauls Drive and into a tree line striking multiple trees.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol officer spotted something amiss Wednesday afternoon. Bernhardt was found in his black Toyota SUV. Investigators haven't said if they know for sure what led up to his death.
