Neighborhood to celebrate its rich history at Coney Island
PRICE HILL, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- An annual tradition took over Coney Island and brought neighbors together.
Price Hill Day at Coney was expected to bring in hundreds of families. The Island Queen, which serviced Coney Island for years, was long gone but memories of riding on the boat from downtown Cincinnati were still fresh in people's minds.
"I remember riding the Island Queen when I was a baby with my dad and mom," said David Sparks.
David Sparks was a volunteer with the Price Hill Historical Society and Museum. Sparks and other volunteers said the tradition of taking the day off for Price Hill Day at Coney Island goes back nearly 100 years.
The Historical Society on Warsaw sponsors the event. The hope was to give neighbors a day of family fun that also celebrated Price Hill's rich history.
Volunteers hope to keep tradition alive and give the people an affordable way to hang out with their neighbors. Tickets are $15 for five years and older. It's $5 for anyone under 5-years-old.
People can buy tickets Wednesday at the Price Hill Historical Society,
