Court rules permits were proper in City Gospel Mission lawsuit

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The City Gospel Mission overcame a hurdle that cleared the way for its move to Queensgate.

Property owners in Queensgate filed a lawsuit that claimed the city improperly issued building permits for the renovation of a shelter, and the construction of a mixed use facility.  The 1st District court of appeals said the city did nothing improper.

Opponents to the move argued the work done by the Over-The-Rhine organization constituted a religious assembly.  That argument was dismissed by the court.

The City Gospel Mission offers programs for homeless and formerly homeless people.
