Armed robber targets local hair salons

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Joe Webb) -- An armed robber points a gun at a salon employee.  "I thought about my daughter, if I would ever see her again. I thought about my family, what would happen if I didn't to come home. I was terrified." Now two police departments need your help solving a pair of armed robberies by the same suspect.

Two communities on opposite side of the Tri-State have hair salons held up by a man in a strange disguise. Video shows him from the 25th of June at the Great Clips in Lawrenceburg and last Saturday evening at the Sport Clips in Miami Township, Clermont County.

The robber is smooth, confident and threatening. When viewed side-by-side, you can see a muscular man disguised by a stocking cap, glasses and a fake beard. He came in the front door of both salons near closing time.

Jillian Bohannon was folding towels in the back of Sport Clips when she heard the front door. Only she and another stylist were still in the store. "So I turned around and he had the gun to my face. He told me to do exactly as he said and he wouldn't blow my brains out. So I did. He grabbed my arm and put the gun to the back of my neck and walked me all the way to the front."

"I have an 8-year-old. So I thought about my daughter. I didn't know if I'd ever see her again," says Bohannon. No one was hurt. The robber emptied the cash register, a safe and stole a purse and a cell phone.

Police in Miami Township learned of Lawrenceburg's robbery yesterday and exchanged tapes. They are convinced it's the same guy ... Not only from the disguise but from how he moves. "We believe there's possibly something wrong with one of his legs," says Detective Greg Jenkins. "It does appear he walks with, not necessarily a limp but there's something going on there."

In both videos the robber is very confident, not jittery like so many caught on surveillance tape. And he was prepared, he did his homework. "He obviously was watching us. He knew how we worked and that we weren't busy. It wasn't his first time. He knew what he was doing."

"He seems very relaxed. Seems he's done this before and that's another concern is he'll continue to do this." Police say the guy had a large, muscular build and a big barrel chest.

Fortunately no one was injured in either robbery, but as you can see from the video he was not afraid to point the gun and intimidate people. If you recognize this guy, or his disguise or how he walks, please call Lawrenceburg or Miami Township police. You can also get a cash reward by calling Crimestoppers at 352-3040.
