Man gets pulled over by cop who saves his life

KENNEBUNK, Maine (WKRC) -- 84-year-old Scotty Falconer was speeding Saturday night when he got pulled over.

Fortunately for him, officer Matthew Harrington was one of just two officers on the force who are trained, licensed EMTs.

He put those qualifications to work soon after the stop as Falconer started to have a heart attack.

"I got his information like we always do," said officer Harrington. "I went back to the car. I was writing out a warning card and heard screaming."

Officer Harrington pulled the man out of the car and started CPR until another officer arrived with a defibrillator.

Falconer's body jumped as the A.E.D. shocked his heart and the two officers found a pulse. He was then rushed to the hospital.

A frightening ordeal at the time, but Falconer joked about it with his nurses while he recovered.
