Bear spotting prompts closing of park

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Jeff Hirsh) -- After spending more than a week out of sight, a black bear roaming the tri-state reappeared Tuesday.

Witnesses spotted the bear Tuesday morning in Union Township, Clermont County.  It lead to a park closing.

Photos of the bear were taken by neighbors on Carefree Drive and Arlington Drive.  The bear has been spotted in several east side locations as if he was a surveyor for the eastern corridor highway project.  More likely he was surveying for lunch or for a lady bear.
Union Township fire chief, Stan Deimling, saw the bear Tuesday morning.  The best advice was to just leave the bear alone.

The bear first turned up in Miami Township, Clermont County June 24 after wildlife officials said he swam across the Ohio River from Kentucky.
