Family makes plea to return lost dog put on Craigslist

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A Butler County family appealed to the person who now has their dog to return him.

"Kooter" is an eight-year-old Jack Russel Terrier mix who ran off from his home on Yankee Road in Liberty Township nearly three weeks ago.  Owner, Patty Sturgis said the woman who found the dog put it under lost and found on Craigslist.

A couple claimed the dog and then gave to someone else who then gave it to a woman in Hamilton.  The family said no one will return the dog-even though he has a microchip.

Sturgis said, "That's our family dog, he means so much to us. Our little boy, he's 4 years old, he misses his dog. He wants Kooter back and so do we. We've had him in our family for a very long time.  That's like taking somebody's child if you think about it. I mean it's really close. That's just heartless."

The Sturgis family said Kooter has an ulcer and they worry he is not receiving treatment for it.  The family is offering a cash reward for the dog's return.
