Drivers confused about new Central Parkway bike lanes

CINCINNATI (Rich Jaffe) -- There was a lot of confusion on Central Parkway Monday morning as police started enforcing new traffic patterns for  bike lanes.

Parking spots moved, people must look for new lanes and watch out for closures. The area that changed is between 12th Street and Marshall Avenue.

It's all part of an initiative to make Cincinnati more bike-friendly and connect a number of inner city neighborhoods with safe bike travel.  To help the confusion city officials sent out colorful graphics to help people better understand the new routes.

City crews will be installing tall, white, pylons along the bike lane to help it be seen.  Eventually, the big, electronic signs will go away as people get used to the changes.  During the month of August, Cincinnati police will only be issuing warning citations for people parked in the curb lane along the route.
