I Do's on the diamond

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- When Alicia Lowe, who goes by Ali, and her fiance Aaron decided to tie the knot with their blended family of Kiley, Aiden, Taylor and John, the hint of where that might happen might have to do with the name of their Newfoundland retriever.

Ali said, "His names Votto.  We named him after Joey."

On August 22, Ali and Aaron with join a few dozen other couples for the second annual 'I Do's on the diamond' at Great American Ball Park.

Katie Dixon, Reds event services manager, said, "They come down on the field, they have a ceremony prior to the first pitch of the game.  And then several couples, they go upstairs and they have a full blown reception."

Part of the reason that Ali wanted to share this with the Reds had to do with the person she said may be most responsible for her actually being a Reds fan, her dad.  He won't be there on the special day; she lost him to a heart attack a few years ago.  But she knows he will be there in spirit to walk her down the aisle.

Ali said, "My dad was a big Reds fan."

Ali said her dad, Ernie Calkins, taught her the love of the game.  She knew he'd be excited about her wedding plans.

"I do,I do.  He'll be so excited that I found a man like Aaron to marry; and that we can all do it at the ballpark," Ali explained.

Arron said he was a pretty big fan of Ali's dad and this whole day at the ballpark thing too, "Her dad being a big Reds fan, it wasn't really hard to talk her into it."

It also won't be hard to imagine dad smiling alongside her for her walk down the aisle.
