Kenutcky city opens its own gas station

SOMERSET, Ky. (WKRC) -- The city of Somerset Kentucky is fighting back against big oil companies.

Somerset opened a taxpayer-supported gas station for the public.

It's the first of it's kind anywhere in the country.

Leaders there say it's to drive down gas prices.

It opened last weekend selling regular gas for $3.36 per gallon.

The city  gets a big tourism boost in the summer because of nearby Lake Cumberland that usually drives up gas prices.
