Health Alert: Children in summer sports need this nutrient

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- People may want to keep a few foods in your kitchen if they have a student athlete in their home.

It will soon be back to school time and that means a lot of children will be going back to practice on the field.  If parents have a child involved in summer sports, as they sweat more, there is a nutrient they need. 

It's potassium but many of the foods parents have in their kitchens might be good for those playing sports.  In addition to the almighty banana parents may need to include avocados, yogurt, apricots, bake potatoes, beans, and the all-important leafy green vegetables.

What these can do, according to the report, is reduce muscle cramping.  Food is not the only thing however, kids also need hydration.  And to pay attention to outside temperatures!
