Government proposal could boost tri-state effort to become freight hub

WASHINGTON (WKRC) -- The federal government released a proposal that could boost the region's efforts to grow as a freight hub.

The Army Corps of Engineers is considering an expansion of Cincinnati's Ohio River port boundaries.

It would grow to nearly 200 miles, from Huntington, W. Va., to the Louisville region.

The current Port of Cincinnati covers 26 miles.

Local development leaders say the new boundary will help better market the region to freight companies.
