VA says veterans geting better access to care

WASHINGTON (WKRC) -- The department of Veterans Affairs says veterans are getting better access to medical care.

The agency says it's reached out to nearly 140, 000 veterans in the past two months trying to get them off waiting lists and into clinics for appointments.

A nationwide investigation is underway into reports of patient deaths and delays at VA health facilities all over the country.

As of June 15, about 46,000 veterans had waited at least 90 days for their first appointments.

That's a drop of about 9,000.
